Smog is a kind of air pollution caused by fog and smoke in the air. Breathing in a severe smog environment can reduce your life span by 7 years. It would help if you changed your attitude towards these adverse conditions.
  • Stay indoors as much as you can – Avoid going out during peak hours. For kids, do not send them to school and playgrounds during severe smog levels. For adults, do not exercise outdoors and, if possible, try to avail an opportunity to work from home.
  • Keep yourself hydrated – Drink a lot of water and fluids and keep yourself hydrated. Water helps in detoxifying air pollutants and helps your body flush them out of your system.
  • Eat healthy food - Include honey, Basil leaves, etc., in your diet to boost your immune system.
  • Use public transport during peak smog time– Avoid driving your vehicle as much as you can. This will help in fewer vehicles on the road and thus will help reduce pollution on the roads generated by vehicles.
  • Avoid going to construction sites or places where there is a lot of dust.
  • Do not burn crackers – Crackers produce a lot of noise and air pollution. The harmful smoke generated by bursting crackers is extremely bad for our health. However happy and excited you are during festivals/weddings etc., do not burst crackers.
  • Wear pollution masks when going outdoor – Pollution masks are easily available both offline and online. Use a mask with N95 or N99 level. Wearing mask will protect you better in this severe situation.
  • Buy an Air purifier – Buy an air purifier for your home. It is the best way to flush out the bad air of your house and keep your house clean. You should always buy a good air purifier depending upon the coverage it provides the size of your room.
  • Keep Indoor Plants – It is the most natural way to keep your air clean in and around your house. Plants help in reding air pollutants and generate clean air.
