Common Ailments

FAQ's

Depending on the type of cancer, the signs and symptoms may vary. However, some of the common symptoms of a tumor include: unexplainable weight-loss, fever or infection, fatigue, lumps or swellings, pain, any change in bowel habits, etc.

The best way to detect a tumor early is by undergoing a screening test such as mammography for breast cancer, colonoscopy for colorectal cancer, etc. If you have a family history of cancer or if you are at a risk of developing cancer, it's advisable to get your regular screenings done. Discuss your risk factors with your doctor.

Diagnostic tests like blood tests, a biopsy, or imaging tests can determine if the tumor is benign or malignant.

Knowing the cancer grade helps your cancer specialist predict how fast the cancer will grow and how likely it is to spread. Grade is usually described using a number from 1to 4. The higher the number, the faster cancer cells are growing.

Cancer stage, on the other hand, lets doctors know how much cancer is in a person’s body, where it is and how far it has spread. Stage is described using a number from 1 to 4.

There are several types of cancer treatments, such as surgery, chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapy and radiation therapy. Some people will have only one treatment, but most people will have a combination of treatments such as surgery with chemotherapy or radiation therapy or both.
