Angiography

Angiography is a test procedure to check blood vessels in the heart.

This test is suggested only after doing a number of other non-invasive heart tests like –

  • Stress
  • Echocardiogram
  • Electrocardiogram

What happens in Angiography?

During Angiography, a small cut is made in one of the arteries and a long thin tube is inserted to examine the critical area. A special dye is injected through a cathedral, which takes a series of x-rays images. Accordingly, a decision is taken for further medical action.

When is Angiography done?

There are several factors when a doctor may recommend an Angiography.

  • Chest pain which looks like symptoms of coronary artery disease
  • Abnormal results in the Stress test
  • Unexplained pain in jaw, neck, back, and arm after doing other tests
  • Chest injury
  • Blood vessel problem
  • Born with a heart defect
