Child Typhoid Fever

Child Typhoid Fever Typhoid is also known as Enteric fever which is caused by bacteria called Salmonella. The fever can either come suddenly or can take a few weeks.

Common Symptoms

The typhoid fever symptoms can be seen after seven to 14 days of infection. And in some cases, the symptoms are identified after two months. Common signs for typhoid include

  • Recurring fever that ranges between 102-104 degrees
  • Headache
  • Soreness in throat
  • Tiredness
  • Low in energy
  • Stomach/Abdomen pain
  • Constipation or Diarrhea
  • Rashes on the skin

Causes

When a person consumes something (eats or drinks) anything which is contaminated with bacteria causes Typhoid

How to Prevent It

  • Children above 2 years can be vaccinated
  • Keep the hands clean. Teach your kids to wash their hands regularly like before eating any food for typhoid, using toilets, coming from outside
  • Use sanitizer if water not available
  • Always carry a water bottle of your child
  • Eat fruits and vegetables which you can peel
  • Always keep the child hydrated
